Why you may need piling for your property
Piling can be used as an alternative to traditional foundations where ground conditions, existing services or access issues make standard methods impractical. Should you need to pile a site we have several options which may be suited to your site's practicular requirements, from our Ductile Cast Iron piling to our Mini or Screw Piling rigs.
Reason's To Consider Piling
- Depth to good ground is excessive
- Water table is above good ground level
- Services run through site eg: Culverts or sewers
- Concern about undermining existing structures
- Systems will reduce the volume and cost of material removed from site, especially if contaminated
Larsen Piling's Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) system is becoming increasingly popular with engineers, surveyors and main contractors. Our DCI system offres an ultra low vibration alternative to bored/drilled "Odex" cast insitu piles. It offers faster, zero waste and cost effective solution. Our lightweight piling rigs mean little to no site preparation for the main contractor. This system offers substantial advantages for building on contaminated land as no arisings are produced during installation; this is becoming more prevalent as city centre infill building sites become more common.
Recent projects in our project portfolio include Social Housing in Comber as well as new developments in Carrickmacross and Donegal.
Extensions/Adaptations to Houses
Larsen Piling have been a leading installer of bottom driven mini piles or steel piles, throughout Ireland, for over two decades. Our piling equipment and methods of work enable us to specialise in small jobs with difficult access, using our modern fleet of remote powered piling rigs, which are otherwise inaccessible to standard equipment. Our compact systems mean we have the ability to gain access via narrow alley ways or through a house to get to the back yard. In situations where even this is impossible our fleet includes hand held piling equipment, ensuring that no matter how bad your site we have the equipment for your job. Installation of ground beams to engineer approved designs is another element of the works on site that Larsen can provide.
We have extensive experience in adaptation work to commercial premises, council houses and private residences. This may involve providing information on the piling works through to liaising with Building Control, NHBC or Homebond for your extension. Larsen have installed piles for many approved contractors working on behalf of local authorities eg Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
Larsen can offer a full design & construct service for foundations for new build houses and extensions which is of particular benefit to self-builders. From architect's plans and elevation drawings, our engineers can provide pile layouts and ground beam details for Building Control, NHBC or Homebond. We have the capability to carry out the piling and groundworks in house or are equally happy to work in partnership with the main contractor through coordinating activities and responsibilities throughout the foundation process.
